Plugin tutorials

If you installed your new theme to a fresh instance of WordPress and installed all of the demo content from the theme, you will have to remove any content that you do no wish to keep manually. Keep whatever you wish to have on your site but it is recommended that you remove things like blog posts and products. Below is detailed instructions on removing key elements:

PAGES

1. Navigate to WordPress > Pages > All Pages.
2. Click the top checkbox to bulk select all the pages you want removed.
3. Navigate to Bulk Actions > Click Move to Trash.

BLOG POSTS

1. Navigate to WordPress > Posts > All Posts.
2. Click the top checkbox to bulk select all the posts you want removed.
3. Navigate to Bulk Actions > Click Move to Trash.
 

IMAGES/MEDIA

1. Navigate to WordPress > Media > Library.
2. Click bulk select at the top.
3. Select those images you want to remove > Click Delete Selected.

MENUS

1. Navigate to WordPress > Appearance > Menus.
2. Carefully select the menus you want to delete, ensuring you are not using them anywhere on your site.
3. At the bottom left Click Delete.
 

COMMENTS

1. Navigate to WordPress > Comments 
2. Click the top checkbox to bulk select all the comments you want removed.
3. Navigate to Bulk Actions > Click Move to Trash.

PRODUCTS

1. Navigate to WordPress > Products > All Products.
2. Click the top checkbox to bulk select all the products you want removed.
3. Navigate to Bulk Actions > Click Move to Trash.

To change the number of products shown per page in Woocommerce:
Go to WordPress > Settings > Reading.
Under “Blog pages show at most,” put your desired number of products. This controls both your number of products as well as the number of blog posts per page, so both are affected by this.

BACKUP PLUGIN

It’s very important to regularly backup your website. If anything goes wrong on your site, having a backup means you can recover and restore your site. 

We currently use Updraftplus on our site, and you can save your backups off your site to places like Dropbox.
There are lots of great free backup plugins available such as Jetpack and BackWPUp.

SECURITY PLUGIN

Wordpres is sadly often the target of hacking and the best way to protect your site is to install a security plugin.
We recommend All in One WP Security and WordFence.

SEO PLUGIN

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is important for establishing  how well your site ranks in Google search. SEO is made up of keywords, meta descriptions etc and successful SEO will ensure more visitors come to your site. 

Yoast SEO is by far the best SEO plugin available. It has a wide range of features and is super easy to use.

CACHING PLUGIN

A caching plugin saves parts of your site by caching them, thus allowing your site to load faster. There are many options to choose from, including WP Fastest CacheW3 Total Cache, and WP Rocket.
